Review : Using the health belief model with sick children

{blacksquare} This article critically evaluates the health belief model in relation to children's nursing practice

{blacksquare} The influence of such diverse issues as sickness behaviours, developmental differences, cultural and socio-economic status are considered

{blacksquare} The health belief model is a useful means of trying to understand chronically sick children's attitudes to treatment

{blacksquare} Knowledge of family health beliefs may help to develop health promotion programmes that foster position beliefs
