The increasing demand for Child Mental Health Services in Britain is producing pressure on managers and clinicians to find different ways to heip.
Government targets for improving quality and reducing waiting times for assessment and treatment are stretching resources.
This study, at a local community child and family consultation clinic, investigated the characteristics of the increased demand, expectations and experiences of clients.
The results highlight the need for better preventative services, improved multi- agency liaison, and less reliance on short- term treatments.
Evaluation in Child Mental Health Services could be enhanced by gaining the views of children and adolescents with independent interviewers.
