Febrile convulsions are common in early childhood and may be the first sign of an illness.
Witnessing the convulsion and experiencing the subsequent admission is extremely stressful for parents.
Children's nurses need to identify the evidence for best practice in the management of febrile convulsions.
Parent education is an essential component of the management of care.
